PLANT‑0018 PLANTER

The PLANT‑0018 geometric planter masterfully balances vertical rhythm and soft curvature to create a harmonious sculptural form. A dense array of equally spaced, slim ribs climbs from the slightly narrowed midsection to the pronounced bulbous body, where each fin gently flares outward at the widest point before tapering back toward the base. This ribbed envelope captures light on the convex edges and pools shadow in the concave channels, producing a subtle play of chiaroscuro that shifts with ambient illumination. The rounded silhouette—measuring 12.5 cm in diameter and 10.8 cm tall—echoes organic seed pods and gourd shapes, while the supporting cylindrical plinth provides visual contrast and solid grounding. Conceptually, PLANT‑0018 reframes the planter as an architectural artefact: its disciplined verticality mirrors the upward growth of the plant itself, forging an intrinsic dialogue between living form and crafted structure. Tactile engagement is central to the experience; fingertips naturally trace the smooth ribs, feeling the tension between solidity and openness. By uniting elemental geometry with evocative biomorphism, this planter transcends mere containment to become a dynamic focal piece—one that animates interiors through evolving light, texture, and an intimate human–plant relationship.

How are the planter made?

Modern 3D printing technology is used to produce the UPETAL 3DESIGN planter.

This is how the extraordinary and delicate structure of the planter can be created – while at the same time being very light. We paid particular attention to sustainability and quality when it came to the material used. – a bio-plastic made from corn starch – we have paid particular attention to sustainability and quality.

How are the planter made?

The 3D planter from UPETAL 3DESIGN are made of polylactide (PLA for short), which is also colloquially known as polylactic acid and is often referred to as  ''o-plastic''. PLA is made up of lactic acid molecules that are created during the fermentation of corn starch or sugar cane.

Although PLA does not grow on trees or bushes and is therefore produced synthetically, it is biodegradable due to its ingredients and is therefore a great alternative to non-degradable plastic with similar properties.

Why are high temperatures damaging the planter?

If the planter is exposed to high temperatures (e.g. in direct sunlight behind a window), the material can lose stability, causing the planter to warp. A series of tests carried out over a few weeks came to the conclusion that this can happen , but does not happen in every case.

However, we expressly point out that there is a possibility that the planter can deform at temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.

Can I put water in the planter ?

The 3D printed planter itself is not waterproof due to its manufacturing process, and water may seep out from the planter. We recommend using this planter for displaying dried flowers.
